How DerivaTrust Works
For Instrument Owners
DerivaTrust makes it easy to create an anonymous, "virtualized" version of any financial instrument sitting in your book and upload the same -- for free -- to our online app community, enabling the continuous expansion of your network for future deals by leveraging the power of targeted online social networking.

Just download our free application development toolkit (ADK) and it will walk you through a step-by-step process as you create a self-contained app that has the information you want to share with the broader markets. No more and no less. You can insert PDF files, Word documents, and Excel spreadsheets, as well as specify key words or select from pre-formatted categories describing the type and size of the instrument to help interested parties (new counterparties, prospective clients) search for and identify your asset. And there is no need to share your identity, allowing you to share the existence of your asset with the markets without disclosing your particular position.

And to ensure that the virtualized contract app is only being reviewed in a particular jurisdiction or by an accredited person, users input their "access criteria" into the ADK during the app creation process.

Once uploaded, the virtualized contract app can be reviewed by interested parties (new counterparties, prospective clients), and if they wish to enter into a dialogue with your desk can send you secure and anonymous (or if they choose, non-anonymous) e-mail messages via the DerivaTrust secure e-mail server which will make sure the message goes to you without disclosing your identity to the sender. If you then choose to reply, you may either disclose your identity or not -- thereby enabling a bi-lateral anonymous dialogue to develop until such time as one or more of the parties wish to disclose their identities (or that of their agents) for further private negotiations and settlement outside of DerivaTrust.

For Instrument Seekers
Any institution or accredited individual may search the DerivaTrust hosting platform for uploaded virtualized contract app at any time and for free. They simply register with DerivaTrust as a system user and are assigned a user name and password to ensure their own secure and anonymous communications going forward. Thereafter, they may download any such community apps and review the same if they can confirm that they are a member of the intended audience class (resident in a permissive jurisdiction, member of a credentialed profession, etc.). Once reviewed, they may make anonymous or non-anonymous inquiries of the app creator (the owner of the instrument in question) and initiate a peer-to-peer discussion via the DerivaTrust secure e-mail server at no charge. Should the app creator wish to respond, they will do so either anonymously or non-anonymously via the DerivaTrust secure e-mail server, or through non-DerivaTrust communication channels (phone, fax, other e-mail systems, etc.).

End Result
By enabling the anonymous publication of exotic instruments to accredited and authorized parties, DerivaTrust facilitates the "discovery" of such instruments by potentially interested parties and enables these same parties to engage in initial anonymous and secure communications to ascertain whether more meaningful "next level" discussions are merited. DerivaTrust at no time makes inquiries as to the qualities or characteristics of these virtualized contract apps, nor does it seek to opine on the merits of resulting discussions. DerivaTrust merely maintains the community for hosting the apps and for providing secure, confidential, and if required, anonymous communications between the parties.
